Now I do, a little

He talks about blogging. He quotes from Plato and The Princess Bride and Babylon 5. He died on Jan. 3rd. Read this soldier's last blog post. No, I didn't know him, but now I do, a little.

(And please, respect his wish not to have his name used as a political football by either side.)

  2. Oh, gosh. This is quite a heavy way to start the day. I think that's it for me for now. No more reading. I'll go sit with it a bit. Thanks, Sara...

  3. I know, Liz. It's rough. But I love what he says about connecting through blogging, and about his wife. And he even managed to make me laugh with his onion remark.

  4. I think you need to put a warning note to have a box of tissues handy before reading the link.

It is such a beautiful post and even, humorous at times. I still can't stop weeping.

It makes me wonder how many of the brave men and women serving overseas have written farewell letters, just in case they didn't make it.

Thank you, Sara, for finding this gem.

  5. I know -- the stuff about his wife was just so straight-up. Can you imagine how she'll treasure that forever? And he WAS funny, and powerful, more than once. Sigh...

  6. Yes, very sad. Maybe my hormones and mood this morning aren't helping, but I'm trying to just hold back tears here. I can barely look at his picture.

    Wow.
